Booking the right band for your upcoming wedding reception can be stressful… especially if you are planning your event from outside of Charleston SC. There are a good number of Charleston wedding bands to choose from as you may have already encountered. In order to help you distinguish a professional group worthy of playing your special event from rest of the pack, we have put together a short list of tips to help you book the right band for your Charleston wedding reception.

1) Dance music. Your reception is a celebration party…so you, your fiance(e), your family and friends are all going to want to dance. Make sure that your reception music is mostly upbeat and danceable.

2) Fun. Parties are fun. Make sure your band knows how to have fun and enjoys entertaining the crowd.

3) Cater to guests taste. Your guests will have a wide range of musical tastes. Make sure your group is capable and flexible to keep everyone happy during your reception.

4) Clear about services and rates. Agreements between you and the band are important when it comes to knowing the services they will provide for the rate they are charging. Make sure the band you hire is above board and crystal clear with their contracts and event riders.

5) Responsive and accessible during planning. Time is precious…especially when you are coordinating a special event like your reception. Look for a group that responds promptly to your emails and phone calls during the entire planning process.

6) Special request songs. A pro wedding band will have no problem learning a few new songs for your special event. Make sure the group you hire is willing to add a few new songs to their song list just for you.

7) DJ Services. Playing music while the band is on break isn’t something you should have to think about. Make sure the band you hire is willing to play all your favorite songs during their breaks without you having to provide a mixed CD or your personal iPod.
